I just have developed a small plugin that lets your I18N internationalised GetSimple site to have all links in menus, etc. with a lang= parameter, possibly better for SEO purposes than sharing the same URL for different language pages.
Note: it will only work if you do a patch to GetSimple by editing one of the core files.
Update: this plugin is no longer needed, as latest I18N plugin versions support fancy URLs (by editing .htaccess)
